  • Ebunangwe Technical Training College has been set to open its doors to pioneer students in September 2026.
  • Governor Wilber Ottichilo and MP Omboko Milemba have confirmed that the college’s Principal and Board are already in place.
  • The institution has been positioned to become the second technical training college in Emuhaya after Ebukanga Public Technical Institution.

Ebunangwe Technical Training College (TTC) in Emuhaya, Vihiga County, is set to open its doors to students in September 2026, following the completion of key preparations at the institution.

The announcement was made on Monday, August 17, after Vihiga Governor Dr Wilber Ottichilo and Emuhaya MP Omboko Milemba held a consultative meeting with stakeholders and the college’s Board to assess preparations for the institution’s official opening.

Governor Ottichilo said the county government, in collaboration with the national government, was committed to supporting the growth of the college and ensuring it provides quality technical and vocational education. He said technical training would be critical in equipping young people with practical skills necessary for employment, entrepreneurship and self-reliance.

“We want our young people to acquire practical skills. Our youth will train in various fields including mechanical, electrical engineering and other technical skills,” Ottichilo said.

The governor added that the institution would contribute significantly towards addressing youth unemployment in Emuhaya and the wider Vihiga County by producing graduates with skills relevant to the labour market.

Milemba described the planned opening as a major milestone for Emuhaya, saying the college would expand access to technical education for students completing secondary school. “The Principal has already been posted. The Board is in place and ready. We are now finalising infrastructure and admission plans,” he said.

Ottichilo confirmed that admission of pioneer students would commence immediately, with the college expected to offer courses in engineering, ICT, building and construction, business and other areas aligned with market demands.

Local stakeholders, led by Arthur Imbira and Ramson Ongalo, welcomed the development, saying the institution would not only create education opportunities but also stimulate the local economy through employment, business and demand for services.

The governor urged parents across Vihiga to embrace technical and vocational education and encourage their children to pursue skills-based courses, adding that the county’s future development would depend largely on equipping young people with practical and marketable skills.

The September opening will make Ebunangwe TTC the second technical training institution in Emuhaya, after Ebukanga Public Technical Institution, further expanding opportunities for youth seeking technical and vocational training within the constituency.

The leaders also called on Vihiga residents to support the government’s development agenda, saying continued cooperation with the Kenya Kwanza administration would help accelerate development projects in the county.

With the institution now preparing to admit its pioneer students, residents of Emuhaya and the wider Vihiga region are expected to benefit from increased access to technical education and new economic opportunities.
