Westlands Member of Parliament (MP) Tim Wanyonyi has donated desks to Mateka Comprehensive School in Bumula Sub‑county, Bungoma County, in a move aimed at easing congestion in classrooms and improving learning conditions.

The donation, warmly received by the school community, is expected to address the shortage of classroom furniture and provide learners with a more conducive environment for study. Teachers and parents described the intervention as timely, noting that overcrowded classrooms had been undermining both teaching and learning.

Speaking during the handover, Wanyonyi said access to quality education begins with creating an enabling environment. He stressed that adequate infrastructure is key to enhancing academic performance and ensuring every learner studies in a safe, comfortable, and dignified space.

“Investing in education is investing in the country’s future. Every child deserves a proper place to learn,” Wanyonyi said, reaffirming his commitment to supporting initiatives that strengthen education and improve learning outcomes.

The legislator added that collaboration between leaders, schools, and communities is essential in addressing challenges facing public institutions. He pledged to continue working with stakeholders to ensure learners across the country benefit from improved facilities.
