Calls on girls to remain focused on their education and avoid teenage pregnancy dominated a fundraiser held at Mulala Girls Secondary School to support the construction of a modern dormitory.
Speaking during the fundraiser, Principal Secretary Teresia Mbaika, who was among the invited guests, encouraged the girls to prioritise education and avoid young boys and men who might derail their dreams.
“Let me tell you, your priority now is education. To be honest with you, if you become pregnant and go back to your home, life will be very difficult. It is only through education that you will achieve the best in life. Use this opportunity to transform your future since your parents are struggling to keep you in school despite many challenges,” said Mbaika.
PS warns against teenage pregnancy
She reminded the girls that teenage pregnancy often interrupts education, forcing many learners to drop out of school before they can resume their studies.
Mbaika noted that such situations place an additional burden on parents, who must provide for both their daughters and their grandchildren.
“Keep working hard and never be confused by men. Everything has its own time,” she said.
Appeal for responsible leadership
The Principal Secretary also called on politicians to conduct issue-based politics and avoid goonism, saying leaders should serve as role models to the younger generation.
She noted that the government remains committed to improving infrastructure in schools to provide learners with a conducive environment for education.
Mbaika thanked President William Ruto for contributing KSh10 million towards the project through Kibwezi West MP Mwengi Mutuse.
She also recognised the First Gentleman of Nakuru County, Sam Mburu, and Nakuru Governor Susan Kihika, who, in her absence, contributed KSh3 million.
A total of about KSh20 million was raised during the fundraiser to support the construction of the modern dormitory.
