Learners at Kapsenetwet Primary School in Chemosot Ward are set to benefit from improved learning conditions after the completion of a new Grade 8 classroom valued at Sh1.2 million.
The classroom, which accommodates up to 60 learners, is expected to ease congestion at the school, where enrolment stands at 480 learners, while supporting the ongoing implementation of Competency Based Education (CBE).
Speaking during the commissioning of the project, Senate Majority Leader Aaron Cheruiyot said improving educational infrastructure remains one of the most effective ways of enhancing learning outcomes.
“Providing learners with a conducive learning environment enables them to actively participate in classroom activities and achieve better learning outcomes,” Cheruiyot said during the commissioning ceremony.
He observed that quality education requires more than curriculum reforms, saying schools also need adequate classrooms and learning facilities that allow learners and teachers to perform effectively.

The Senator further revealed that plans are underway to establish a resource centre at the school to provide additional learning materials for both teachers and learners.
Chemosot Ward MCA Anita Biegon described the new classroom as a timely investment that will improve classroom management and create a better learning environment for Grade 8 learners.
She called upon the school administration, parents and learners to safeguard the facility to ensure it continues serving the community for many years.
Residents and parents praised the initiative, saying the additional classroom will reduce overcrowding and provide a more comfortable environment for learners.
The stakeholders added that sustained investment in school infrastructure is essential in supporting teachers, improving academic performance and ensuring the successful implementation of the Competency Based Education programme.
