- TSC is seeking 20,000 teachers for permanent and pensionable positions in junior schools across Kenya.

The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has advertised 20,000 permanent and pensionable Post Primary Teacher positions for deployment to junior schools across the country.
The advertisement appeared in the Government Advertising Agency’s NewsFocus publication dated July 28, 2026.
According to the Commission, the recruitment is aimed at supporting the implementation of Competency Based Education (CBE) in junior schools.
“The Teachers Service Commission invites applications from qualified candidates to fill 20,000 Post Primary teachers posts in Junior Schools to support the implementation of Competency Based Education,” the Commission says.
Interested and qualified candidates have been directed to submit their applications online through the Commission’s website under the “Careers” section or through the Teachers Online portal by midnight on August 31, 2026.
Who qualifies
TSC has outlined three minimum requirements for candidates seeking the positions.
An applicant must be a Kenyan citizen, hold at least a diploma in education with a minimum Mean Grade of C+ (plus) and C+ (plus) in two teaching subjects in KCSE or its equivalent, and be a registered teacher with the Commission.
For applicants holding equivalent qualifications, the Commission has advised them to visit its website for further information.
“The Teachers Service Commission’s Guidelines for Recruitment of Post Primary Teachers for 2026/2027 Financial Year shall apply,” the advert states.
TSC has ruled out manual applications, meaning candidates must complete the process online.
“Manual applications will not be considered,” the Commission says.
The application portal will open on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, and close on Monday, August 31, 2026, at midnight.
Selection and posting
The Commission says candidates who are currently employed and have a record of existing teaching service with the Commission due to disciplinary grounds will not qualify.
Candidates will be required to present their original academic and professional certificates during the recruitment process.
Selection will be conducted on merit and according to the number of vacancies allocated to each county.
“Selection of candidates will strictly be on merit and based on the number of vacancies per County,” TSC says.
The Commission has further directed that successful candidates should not fill more than one application for employment.
Successful teacher interns will be retained in their current sub-counties or stations, according to the advert.
Those recruited will be required to teach various learning areas under the Junior School Curriculum.
TSC has directed candidates seeking further information to visit its website, where details of available vacancies per county and sub-county will be provided.
TSC warns against recruitment fraud
The Commission has warned candidates against paying money to individuals claiming they can influence the recruitment exercise.
“The recruitment exercise is free of charge,” TSC says.
It further warned applicants against fraudsters who might extort money from unsuspecting candidates while purporting to assist them in securing employment.
Any fraudulent activity should be reported to the nearest TSC office or through the Commission’s designated reporting channels.
The advert lists the Director Staffing telephone number as 020-2892193 and Deputy Director Staffing as 020-2892131. Candidates can also report suspected fraud through the Commission’s official email channels.
“Further, any such fraudulent activity should be reported to the nearest police station,” the Commission states.
