The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has completed a leadership transition in Siaya County following the official handover of the County Director’s office by Dr William Yator, OGW, who has been transferred to Bungoma County as part of the Commission’s latest administrative changes.

Dr Yator handed over the office to TSC Deputy County Director Solomon Buyela Wafubwa during a ceremony presided over by Nyanza Regional Director Dr Esther Musani.

The event brought together key education stakeholders, including Sub-County Directors (SCDs), representatives of school sponsors, officials from the Ministry of Education, the Kenya Early Childhood and Primary School Heads Association (KEPSHA), the Kenya Secondary Schools Heads Association (KSSHA), the Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT), the Kenya Union of Post Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET) and other education partners.

The handover marks the end of Dr Yator’s tenure in Siaya, where he oversaw the implementation of the Commission’s teacher management programmes, including recruitment, deployment, promotions, discipline and performance management.

Mr Wafubwa now assumes leadership of the Siaya County office as Dr Yator takes up his new assignment in Bungoma County.

Part of TSC leadership changes

The transfer is part of the Teachers Service Commission’s ongoing administrative reorganisation aimed at strengthening service delivery across county offices.

In recent months, the Commission has transferred and promoted several regional, county and deputy county directors to fill vacancies created through retirements, promotions and other administrative changes. The reshuffle is intended to enhance efficiency in teacher management and improve the delivery of education services across the country.

County Directors play a central role in implementing TSC policies at the county level. Their responsibilities include overseeing teacher recruitment, deployment, transfers, promotions, discipline, performance management and coordination of the Commission’s activities within their respective counties.
