The Kenya Union of Post Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET) Kakamega County Branch has condemned the brutal killing of teacher Frank Anerico Wekulo and called on security agencies to expedite investigations and arrest all suspects linked to the crime.
In a statement issued, KUPPET Kakamega Branch Secretary for Tertiary Institutions, Spira Festus, expressed concern that individuals believed to be connected to the murder were reportedly still at large.
Festus urged law enforcement agencies to act swiftly and decisively to ensure that those responsible are brought before the courts without further delay.
“It is deeply concerning that the individuals suspected to be involved in this murder are reportedly still at large. We urge the relevant security agencies to expedite investigations and ensure the immediate arrest of all suspects connected to this heinous crime,” he said.
Union demands justice
The union said the killing had shocked the teaching fraternity and reiterated its commitment to advocating for the safety, security and dignity of teachers across the country.
KUPPET also expressed solidarity with the family, friends, colleagues and learners affected by Wekulo’s death, describing the incident as a painful loss to the education sector.
“We stand in solidarity with the family, friends, colleagues and the entire teaching fraternity during this difficult time. We reaffirm our commitment to advocating for the safety, security and dignity of all teachers,” Festus added.
The union called for the immediate arrest, prosecution and conviction of all those responsible for the killing, insisting that justice must be served.
KUPPET further urged security agencies to intensify efforts to protect teachers and ensure that perpetrators of violence against educators are held accountable.

The union maintained that justice for Wekulo must prevail and appealed to the authorities to keep the public informed on the progress of the investigations.
