- The new Kenya Medical Training College campus at Matuu will officially open in September 2026.
- Matungulu MP Stephen Mule has urged parents to enrol their children at the fully equipped institution.
- The MP says the campus will reduce the cost of accessing medical training for students from the region.
A new Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) campus at Matuu in Matungulu Sub-county is set to admit its first students in September 2026.
Matungulu Member of Parliament Stephen Mule has urged parents to prepare their children to enrol at the new institution when admissions begin.
Speaking during the burial of his aunt, the late Victoria Mumbua Kimanthi, at Katangini Village in Matungulu Constituency, Dr Mule said there was no need for students to travel to distant KMTC campuses since the Matuu campus is fully equipped to offer similar programmes.
“If you have a child who wishes to undertake nursing and other medical courses, prepare your child to join the KMTC campus at Matuu in September,” Dr Mule said.
Sh2 million worth of equipment
The MP said his office had procured equipment worth more than Sh2 million for the new campus, with additional equipment supplied through the area Member of County Assembly (MCA).
He noted that the institution will help parents reduce the costs associated with students travelling and living far from home while pursuing medical training.

“This campus brings training closer to our people. Parents will save on transport and accommodation while students access quality medical training right here in Yatta,” he said.
Courses on offer
The new campus is expected to offer a range of medical programmes, including:
- Diploma in Community Health Nursing
- Diploma in Clinical Medicine and Surgery
- Diploma in Pharmacy
- Diploma in Medical Laboratory Sciences
- Diploma in Public Health
- Certificate in Community Health
- Certificate in Health Records and Information among other programmes.
The opening of the campus is expected to improve access to medical training and increase opportunities for young people seeking careers in the health sector within Machakos County and neighbouring regions.
