The Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) has strengthened its commitment to competency-based healthcare training through a five-day academic and clinical exchange programme bringing together Occupational Therapy students from its Teso and Nairobi campuses.

Twenty-two students from Teso Campus began the programme on Monday, July 13, 2026, with activities designed to expose them to specialised training facilities, modern rehabilitation technologies and diverse clinical practice while promoting collaboration across campuses.

Speaking during the reception of the students, Nairobi Campus Head of the Occupational Therapy Department Eunice Ndirangu said the programme demonstrates the College’s commitment to producing globally competitive healthcare professionals.

“Occupational Therapy is a globally recognised profession, and the training you receive at the College meets international standards,” she said.

She encouraged the students to pursue excellence and leadership in the profession.

“Keep the fire burning, make deliberate career choices, and aspire to become future lecturers, researchers and leaders in the profession,” Ndirangu said.

She further urged the learners to prioritise service to humanity as they build careers in Kenya and abroad.

Knowledge exchange across campuses

Teso Campus Principal Daniel Kurui said the exchange programme reflects KMTC’s integrated approach to training.

“KMTC is one institution, and knowledge exchange plays an important role in strengthening teaching and learning across our campuses. We appreciate the warm support extended by Nairobi Campus and believe the experience gained will enrich learning at Teso,” he said.

The programme includes practical skills laboratory sessions, interaction with lecturers and fellow students, and exposure to specialised Occupational Therapy services.

Student team leader Antony Otunga thanked the management of both campuses for facilitating the exchange programme.
