Borabu Constituency MP Patrick Osero has reaffirmed that education remains the foundation of development, urging parents to work closely with teachers in nurturing disciplined and hardworking learners.
Speaking at Tinderet Secondary School, the MP said investing in children’s education is the surest way of unlocking sustainable development.
“A disciplined and educated generation is the foundation of development. Parents and teachers must work together to ensure our children succeed,” he said.
The MP was at the school to hand over a new 51-seater school bus purchased through the National Government Constituencies Development Fund (NG-CDF).
He said the bus would ease transport challenges and enhance the school’s participation in academic and co-curricular activities.
Osero outlined three key benefits of the new bus.
He said it will improve the safety and reliability of learner transport by reducing dependence on public transport during school trips, sports competitions and academic events.
Secondly, he noted that parents will save money previously spent on transport for educational trips, games and national examinations.
Thirdly, the bus will increase learners’ exposure by enabling them to participate in educational tours, music festivals, drama competitions and sporting events across the country.
Proper management
The MP urged the school principal to ensure the bus is properly maintained and used strictly for educational purposes.
He added that, on rare occasions, the school could allow community members to use the bus for important public functions such as funerals.
