  • Makueni County has launched the second phase of the Huduma Mashinani programme in Thange Ward.
  • Residents are being sensitised on the importance of acquiring key government documents and services.
  • County officials say the initiative is bringing essential government services closer to wananchi.

Makueni County has launched the second phase of the Huduma Mashinani programme in Thange Ward as part of efforts to improve access to government services and increase awareness on the importance of acquiring essential personal documents.

Speaking during the launch, County Executive Committee Member for Gender, Children, Youth, Sports and Social Services Sebastian Kyoni said the initiative is bringing critical government services closer to residents.

Kyoni said the first phase of the programme reached more than 80,000 residents, describing the public response as encouraging.

“As we launch Phase Two of Huduma Mashinani after a successful first phase that reached over 80,000 residents, we are encouraged by the turnout. We will continue sensitising residents and encouraging them to register for these important documents,” he said.

Essential services

Residents accessed a wide range of government services during the exercise, including:

  • National identity card registration.
  • Birth and death certificate applications.
  • Voter registration.
  • KRA PIN registration.
  • Higher Education Loans Board (HELB) support.
  • Police abstract services.
  • National Social Security Fund (NSSF) registration.

Improving service delivery

The programme is one of Governor Mutula Kilonzo Jnr’s flagship initiatives aimed at improving access to government services by taking them directly to communities.

County officials said the outreach programme is expected to increase access to vital government documentation while reducing the cost and time residents spend travelling to service centres.
