The Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) has invited qualified teachers and tutors to apply for training as examiners for the Kenya Junior School Education Assessment (KJSEA) and the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE).
In a notice issued on Friday, July 10, the council said the training will be conducted between July and August 2026 using a blended learning approach. The programme will begin with online training before participants attend a residential physical session.
Before the training begins, shortlisted applicants will be required to pay a training fee of Ksh10,500 after receiving notification via SMS and through the KNEC examiners’ application portal.
“KNEC is inviting applications from qualified teachers and tutors to train as examiners for the Kenya Junior School Education Assessment (KJSEA) and Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examination,” the council stated.
The recruitment exercise covers examiners for a wide range of KJSEA subjects, including English, Kiswahili, Mathematics, Integrated Science, Agriculture, Social Studies, Christian Religious Education, Creative Arts and Sports, Pre-Technical Studies, as well as Special Needs Education papers.
For the KCSE examinations, KNEC is seeking examiners in subjects such as Kiswahili, Biology Practical, Islamic Religious Education, Computer Studies, French, German, Arabic, and various Special Needs Education papers.

KNEC said applicants must be practising teachers or tutors in the relevant subject areas and must be registered or employed by the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) or the Public Service Commission (PSC). They are also required to hold at least a diploma in education and have a minimum of three years’ teaching experience.
Additionally, candidates must be recommended by the head of their institution, be aged 50 years or below, and must not be under interdiction or facing disciplinary action by the TSC or their respective employer.
Teachers interested in the opportunity are required to apply through the KNEC Examiners’ Portal by logging in using their CP2 accounts or creating new accounts before selecting the available training vacancies.
KNEC stated that only applicants who meet all the stipulated requirements and provide the required documentation will be considered for shortlisting.
Those who successfully complete the training will be eligible for engagement by the council as examiners for KJSEA and KCSE assessments, subject to KNEC’s examiner recruitment criteria and staffing needs.
