The Kenya Union of Post Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET) Makueni branch has assured teachers that their welfare will not be compromised as the regional secondary school ball games get underway at Makueni Boys High School.
Branch Executive Secretary Justus Kimeu said the union recognizes the immense effort teachers put into coaching learners while balancing classroom duties, and pledged full support throughout the three‑day event.
“We will stand with our teachers during these games and offer any support they need. I remind them to carry out their work wholeheartedly because their welfare remains our priority,” Kimeu told participants.
The tournament has drawn more than 6,000 participants from eight counties, converging in Makueni for the regional showdown. Kimeu also encouraged students to seize the opportunity to showcase their talents, urging them to compete with dignity whether they win or lose.

He expressed pride in the school’s capacity to host such a large gathering, noting that the successful organization of the regional games positions Makueni Boys to host future national championships.
“As a school, we are grateful to the organizers for entrusting us with this responsibility. We are confident that we can host even bigger events in the future,” Mutua said.
