- The government has launched the distribution of laptops and smart boards to junior schools across Kenya.
- More than 10,000 digital devices will be supplied under the Kenya Digital Economy Acceleration Project.
- The programme aims to promote digital equity and strengthen ICT integration in classrooms.
The Principal Secretary for the State Department for Basic Education, John Ololtuaa, on Wednesday led the launch of digital learning devices at ACK Ol’Kalou Comprehensive School in Nyandarua County.
He was accompanied by the Principal Secretary for the State Department for ICT and the Digital Economy, Eng. John Tanui.

Under the Kenya Digital Economy Acceleration Project (KDEAP), the government is distributing 10,382 laptops and 10,382 interactive smart boards to junior schools across all 47 counties.
In Nyandarua Sub-county, 11 schools are set to benefit from the programme.
The rollout follows the training of more than 62,000 teachers nationwide on the integration of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) into teaching and learning.
Promoting digital equity
Speaking during the launch, PS Ololtuaa said the initiative is designed to ensure that learners across the country have equal access to digital learning resources regardless of their location.
“A learner in Ol’Kalou now gets the same devices, with the same specifications, as a learner in Nairobi or Mombasa,” he said.

He thanked the Government of Kenya, the World Bank and other development partners for supporting efforts to advance digital equity in schools and strengthen the integration of technology into basic education.
