Kisii: Sorrow in Kenyenya as former Rianyanchabera High Principal dies after long illness

  • Rianyanchabera village in Bombaba Borabu Ward, Kenyenya Sub-county, Kisii County, is mournig the death of retired Rianyanchabera Senior Secondary School Principal Hezron Onderi Nyandieka after a long illness.
  • Many of the mourners, who are alumni of Rianyanchabera Senior Secondary School, paid glowing tribute to the late principal, saying he transformed the institution through academic excellence, discipline and strong moral values.

A sombre mood has engulfed Rianyanchabera village in Bombaba Borabu Ward, Kenyenya Sub-county, Kisii County, following the death of retired Rianyanchabera Senior Secondary School Principal Hezron Onderi Nyandieka after a long illness.

Residents, relatives, friends and former students gathered at his home to mourn the veteran educationist, describing him as a dedicated teacher, mentor and community leader whose impact extended far beyond the classroom.

Many of the mourners, who are alumni of Rianyanchabera Senior Secondary School, paid glowing tribute to the late principal, saying he transformed the institution through academic excellence, discipline and strong moral values.

“Our principal has left an indelible legacy in this village and beyond. He was a father, a teacher and a counsellor to many. May his soul rest in peace,” said John Onsoti, a former student.

Before his retirement, Nyandieka served in several learning institutions, where he earned respect for his commitment to quality education, integrity and disciplined leadership.

During his more than two decades at Rianyanchabera Senior Secondary School, he was widely credited with improving the school’s academic performance while mentoring generations of students into responsible citizens.

Beyond his work in education, Nyandieka was remembered as a devoted church elder and community servant who willingly offered guidance and support to families across Bombaba Borabu Ward.

The education fraternity, former colleagues, students and members of the local community have continued to convey messages of condolence to the bereaved family, describing his passing as a great loss to the region.

Burial arrangements are expected to be announced by the family in consultation with the school fraternity and local leaders.
