The government has reaffirmed its commitment to improving education standards across the country by investing in modern learning infrastructure, saying better facilities will create a conducive environment for teaching and learning in all institutions.
Speaking during a fundraising event at Kimanchia Secondary School in Tigania West Constituency, Meru County, Trade Principal Secretary Regina Omollo Ombam and Principal Secretary for the State Department for Agriculture Dr. Paul Kiprono Ronoh said the initiative is part of President William Ruto’s broader agenda to strengthen the education sector through enhanced infrastructure development.
The fundraiser, organized by Tigania West Member of Parliament (MP) John Mutunga in collaboration with education stakeholders, brought together leaders, teachers, parents and residents to support the school’s development projects.

“President Ruto is determined to improve infrastructure in all learning institutions across the country. This is a deliberate effort to ensure learners study in a conducive environment, and infrastructure development remains a key priority of the government,” she said.
She added that the administration is committed to ensuring every school has the facilities needed to enhance the quality of education and urged learners to uphold discipline and respect as key values for success.
Dr. Ronoh encouraged students to take advantage of the government’s investment in education by working hard in their studies while also nurturing their talents.
He observed that sports, athletics, music and drama have become viable career paths capable of generating sustainable incomes, urging learners to pursue their abilities with determination alongside academic excellence.
“Education remains the key to success for individuals and the nation. Modern school infrastructure plays a vital role in shaping the future of every learner,” he said.
The Agriculture PS further challenged students to acquire practical skills that will prepare them for the evolving job market, while emphasizing the importance of listening to parents and teachers.
“With quality education and improved school facilities, learners can achieve their dreams and become productive members of society,” he noted.
Dr. Ronoh also paid tribute to teachers for their role in nurturing children from early childhood into responsible citizens and future leaders.
“The teacher shapes the future of this country by mentoring those who will become presidents, lawmakers, professionals and experts. Their contribution to society is invaluable,” he said.
Tigania East MP Mpuru Aburi joined his Tigania West counterpart at the event, with the two legislators pledging continued support for initiatives aimed at improving education standards in the region.
Residents and education stakeholders welcomed the government’s commitment, expressing optimism that improved infrastructure will enhance learning outcomes and help produce a skilled workforce for the country’s future.
