Police in Kisii County are searching for a 24-year-old man alleged to have been in a relationship with a 19-year-old secondary school student who reportedly went missing from her home.
According to residents, the student, who attends Riambase Secondary School in Nyamache Sub-county, disappeared from her family home, prompting relatives to begin searching for her.
Acting on information from members of the public, the girl’s parents sought assistance from the area chief before tracing her to a rental house in Amasago Village.
However, the suspect reportedly fled before the parents and local administration officers arrived.
The matter was reported at Keumbu Police Station before the student was later transferred to Ogembo Police Station, where she recorded a statement to assist investigators.
Police also facilitated a medical examination, including a pregnancy assessment, before arrangements were made for her return to school.
During a brief interview in the presence of police officers, the student said she and the suspect had been in a relationship for some time.
Her parents appealed to police to expedite investigations and arrest the suspect, accusing him of interfering with their daughter’s education.
