  • KNEC has directed all heads of institutions to verify the uploading of School-Based Assessment (SBA) scores for learners registered to sit the 2026 KPSEA and KJSEA.
  • All heads of institutions to log into their schools’ Competency-Based Assessment (CBA) portals and confirm the status of the uploaded SBA scores for their 2026 KPSEA and KJSEA candidates.

The Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) has directed all heads of institutions to verify the uploading of School-Based Assessment (SBA) scores for learners registered to sit the 2026 Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) and Kenya Junior School Education Assessment (KJSEA).

In a notice issued on Thursday, July 2, KNEC said it is currently verifying the capture of SBA scores submitted by schools to ensure that every learner’s assessment records have been accurately uploaded into its system ahead of the national assessments.

The examination council has instructed all heads of institutions to log into their schools’ Competency-Based Assessment (CBA) portals and confirm the status of the uploaded SBA scores for their 2026 KPSEA and KJSEA candidates.

According to KNEC, the verification exercise is an important quality assurance measure aimed at identifying and correcting any missing or incomplete records before the administration of the national assessments.

Schools have been given until July 30, 2026, to complete the verification exercise.

The directive comes as KNEC continues implementing the Competency-Based Education (CBE), where School-Based Assessments form a key component of a learner’s final evaluation alongside national examinations.

Accurate SBA records are therefore critical in ensuring that candidates receive the correct assessment outcomes.

KNEC has urged school heads not to wait until the deadline but to access the CBA portal early, verify that all SBA scores have been successfully captured and address any discrepancies immediately.

The council has emphasized that timely verification will help safeguard the integrity of the assessment process and ensure that all eligible candidates have complete assessment records before they sit the 2026 KPSEA and KJSEA examinations.
