Former Bomet County volleyball girls champion Kaboson Girls Secondary School have officially lodged an appeal challenging the jury’s decision that cleared reigning champions Cheptalal Girls to represent Bomet County at the upcoming Rift Valley Secondary Schools Games.
In the appeal which is being heard today, Kaboson argues that the jury reached an unfair verdict by declaring Cheptalal winners despite the county volleyball final not being completed.
The school is seeking an order for the match to be replayed.
The controversial final was abandoned during the fourth set after crowd disturbances disrupted play.
At the time the match was halted, Cheptalal Girls were leading the contest by two sets to one and were also ahead in the fourth set.

Sports officials later ruled in favour of Cheptalal, allowing the reigning champions to advance to the regional championships.
Kaboson’s appeal now puts the matter back before the relevant sports authorities, with the outcome expected to determine whether Cheptalal retains its qualification or whether the two schools will have to replay the match.
If Kaboson succeeds in the appeal, the disputed fixture will be replayed tomorrow to determine Bomet County’s representative at the Rift Valley Secondary Schools Games.
The hearing is ongoing and a decision is expected later today.
