Musingu High School has officially been declared the 2026 Kakamega County boys’ football champions after Butere Boys High School was disqualified for violating Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association (KSSSA) regulations by fielding several ineligible players.
The decision follows weeks of protests and appeals that overshadowed the county championships, with concerns raised over the eligibility of several Butere Boys players.
The County Games Jury upheld the appeal, paving the way for Musingu High School to be awarded the county title.
Following the ruling, Kakamega School has been elevated to the county runners-up position, reshaping Kakamega County’s representation at the forthcoming Western Region Secondary Schools Games.
As county champions, Musingu High School will compete in Group A, while Kakamega School will feature in Group B during the regional championships.

The Western Region Secondary Schools Games are scheduled to begin on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, in Bungoma County.
The two Kakamega County representatives will be seeking qualification for the Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association (KSSSA) National Term Two Games.
