Rift Valley teachers set for regional sports championship in Baringo

Teachers from across the Rift Valley region will converge at Baringo High School from August 6 to 8 for the 2026 Great Rift Valley Regional Teachers Championship, a three-day tournament aimed at promoting sportsmanship, teamwork and professional networking among educators.

The championship will feature football, volleyball and netball competitions, with both men’s and women’s teams expected to participate.

Promoting unity through sport

Organisers said the tournament will provide teachers with an opportunity to showcase their sporting talents while strengthening professional relationships beyond the classroom.

Football will be contested in both the men’s and women’s categories, alongside volleyball and netball competitions involving teams from across the region.

The event is expected to attract hundreds of participants and supporters from counties across the former Rift Valley region.

Registration underway

According to the organisers, registration is ongoing at a fee of KSh5,500 per discipline, per gender, with the deadline set for July 20.

Beyond competition, the championship seeks to encourage healthy living, teamwork and unity among teachers through sport.

It will also provide educators with an opportunity to unwind during the school holiday while fostering camaraderie and professional interaction.

Baringo County will host the regional championship, with Baringo High School serving as the main venue.

Preparations are underway to ensure the successful staging of the tournament, which is expected to feature competitive matches across all disciplines.
