  • Industry experts will now verify and monitor practical assessments as CDACC launches nationwide verification
  • TVET CDACC has directed principals of national polytechnics, technical training institutes and technical and vocational colleges, as well as managers of vocational training centres and vice chancellors of universities implementing CBET, to expect contact from the assigned practitioners.

Technical training institutions across Kenya have less than a week to prepare after the sector’s regulator deployed industry practitioners to inspect ongoing practical assessments ahead of the July/August 2026 series.

The Technical and Vocational Education and Training Curriculum Development, Assessment and Certification Council (TVET CDACC) said the practitioners, alongside officials from the State Department for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (SDTVET), will verify and monitor practical assessments between June 24 and July 31, 2026.

The Council directed principals of national polytechnics, technical training institutes and technical and vocational colleges, as well as managers of vocational training centres and vice chancellors of universities implementing Competency Based Education and Training (CBET), to expect contact from the assigned practitioners.

Industrial practitioners are required to reach out to centres and request a working summative practical assessment schedule before July 3, 2026.

The Council said each centre had been assigned between one and eight industry practitioners, depending on the number of registered courses and candidates. The practitioners will verify that practical assessments meet industry standards and offer advice on areas for improvement.

Assessment centres will be required to enter scores confirmed by the assessor and verifier into the TVET CDACC portal on the date of verification, then print, sign and stamp the same before issuing it to the practitioner. Centres will also be expected to sign and stamp the practitioners’ reports as proof that the verification exercise took place.

The broader verification exercise runs from June 24 to July 17, 2026, for candidates undertaking summative written assessment, and from June 24 to July 31, 2026, for those under modularized Cycle 3 curricular levels 3 and 4.

Centres that have not been contacted by an industry practitioner by July 6, 2026, were asked to notify the Council through pracverifictvetcdacc@gmail.com.
