Nyaribari Masaba Member of Parliament (MP) Daniel Manduku has reaffirmed his constituency’s commitment to funding education projects, with a strong focus on improving school infrastructure to enhance learning and support the successful implementation of the Competency-Based Education (CBE).

Speaking on Monday during the official handover of a newly constructed Junior School classroom block at Getacho Comprehensive School, Manduku said quality infrastructure remains critical to improving academic standards across the constituency.

The MP described the Competency-Based Education (CBE) system as a progressive model that nurtures well-rounded learners but cautioned that its success depends on the availability of adequate learning facilities, including classrooms, laboratories and teaching materials.

“While CBE is a good system that equips learners with practical skills and competencies, it can only succeed if schools have a conducive learning environment,” he said.

The event was attended by Kitutu Chache North MP Japheth Nyakundi, Nyaribari Chache MP Zaheer Jhanda, Bomachoge Chache MP Alpha Miruka, Kisii Nominated Senator Esther Okenyuri, former Bomachoge Borabu MP Prof. Zadoc Ogutu and Nominated MCA Folifine Bwari.

Manduku said the Nyaribari Masaba NG-CDF Committee has prioritised education in the current financial year, allocating more than 40 per cent of the constituency’s development funds to school infrastructure projects.

He noted that similar classroom construction projects are underway in several comprehensive and secondary schools to address congestion and create a conducive environment for CBE implementation.

The newly commissioned block comprises six spacious classrooms equipped with modern furniture, electricity and water points, and is expected to accommodate the growing population of Junior Secondary School learners at Getacho Comprehensive School.

Kisii Nominated Senator Esther Okenyuri, speaking in the same event also reaffirmed her commitment to supporting education programmes in the region and urged parents to complement government efforts by instilling discipline in their children.

She said parents have a shared responsibility in nurturing responsible learners and should not leave the task entirely to teachers.

Manduku also called on school management committees to ensure proper maintenance of the new facilities while urging parents and the wider community to support teachers by providing learners with the necessary learning materials at home.

Teachers, parents and the management of Getacho Comprehensive School welcomed the new classrooms, saying the additional space will ease overcrowding in Grade 7 and Grade 8 classes and significantly improve the learning environment for Junior Secondary School students.
