Principal Secretary for the State Department for Aviation and Aerospace, Teresia Mbaika, has urged leaders to treat one another with respect and refrain from using abusive language against women, warning that such conduct discourages young girls who look up to female leaders as role models.
Speaking during a women empowerment meeting at AIC Malivani Boarding School in Kibwezi West, Mbaika said insults and public attacks directed at women leaders undermine efforts to empower the girl child and diminish the confidence of the next generation.
“We have young school girls who look up to us as their mothers, sisters and leaders. When abusive words are directed at women leaders, we are killing their dreams and making them feel inferior, despite the efforts being made to empower the girl child,” she said.
The Principal Secretary also challenged parents to prioritize their children’s education, describing it as the greatest equalizer in society and the surest path to a better future.
“Education remains the most powerful tool for transforming lives. Parents must ensure that every child has the opportunity to acquire quality education,” she said.

During the event, Mbaika, was accompanied by several leaders including the Managing Director of Kenya Railways Philip Mainga.
Mainga pledged to support the school by sinking a borehole to address its persistent water shortage. PS said the project would significantly improve learning conditions at the institution.
Special Economic Zones Authority Chairman Fred Muteti, who hosted the event, noted that the government, through the First Lady’s initiatives, had already upgraded the neighbouring Unoa Comprehensive School.
He expressed confidence that similar support would be extended to AIC Malivani Boarding School, beginning with the completion of its perimeter wall.
Muteti urged parents to invest in their children’s education, saying it remains the most valuable inheritance they can offer.
“In Makueni County, education is our greatest cash crop. It is the one gift that can never be taken away from a child,” he said.
Kibwezi West Member of Parliament (MP) Mwengi Mutuse called on young people to reject divisive politics and avoid being manipulated by politicians for selfish interests. Instead, he encouraged them to focus on education and engage in income-generating activities that would improve their livelihoods.
The leaders reaffirmed their commitment to supporting education and community development projects aimed at improving learning environments and creating opportunities for young people in the region.
