Madira Girls High School’s celebrated football team, popularly known as the Soccer Assassins, has dismissed unverified reports circulating about the team and its internal affairs, insisting that its focus remains firmly on preparations for the upcoming Western Region Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association (KSSSA) Games.
In an official statement, the team cautioned supporters, parents, partners and the media against relying on unofficial information, saying any reports currently circulating had neither originated from nor been verified by the team management.
The statement comes at a crucial moment for the Vihiga County football giants, who are among Kenya’s most closely watched girls’ school football teams.
Madira Girls recently won the Vihiga County girls’ football title to secure qualification for the Western Region championships, where the team hopes to continue its impressive run.
The Soccer Assassins said they would pursue all lawful means to protect the reputation, privacy and welfare of their players and staff.
The management also warned against the publication and dissemination of false, misleading, defamatory or confidential information, citing provisions of Kenya’s Computer Misuse and Cybercrimes Act.
United despite distractions
Despite the controversy, the school maintained a defiant tone, insisting that attempts to intimidate or distract the team would not derail its ambitions.
“Enemies of progress may intensify their efforts, but they will never make us bow to pressure, abandon our values, or lose sight of our purpose,” the statement said.
Madira Girls has grown into one of Kenya’s emerging powerhouses in girls’ football, earning national recognition for consistently competing at the highest levels of school football and producing talented players capable of excelling beyond secondary school competition.
Eyes on regional glory
As preparations for the Western Region Games gather momentum, the Soccer Assassins have appealed to their supporters to remain united and continue backing the team in its quest for regional and national success.
