Defending Nyanza Region boys’ football champions Agai Mixed Secondary School will begin their title defence against formidable opposition after being drawn in a competitive Pool B for the 2026 Nyanza Region Secondary Schools Sports Association term two games.

Agai Mixed, who lifted the regional crown in 2025, have been grouped alongside Ringa Boys High School, Sameta High School and Yala High School. The pool is expected to produce some of the tournament’s most exciting matches as all four schools seek a place in the knockout stage.

The champions will be under pressure to replicate last year’s success and secure qualification to the Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association (KSSSA) National Championships.

Their experience as reigning regional champions, however, could prove crucial in navigating the tough group.

In Pool A, traditional football powerhouse Maseno School will take on Biticha Secondary School, Koderobara Secondary School and Gendia High School. Maseno, one of the most successful football schools in the region, will be looking to reclaim the title and return to the national stage.

With regional bragging rights and national qualification slots at stake, teams are expected to leave nothing to chance as they battle for supremacy. Coaches have already intensified preparations, with schools hoping to showcase the depth of football talent that continues to emerge from the Nyanza region.

As the countdown to the championship continues, attention will be firmly on Agai Mixed Secondary School, whose quest to retain the regional title will be one of the major storylines of the tournament.

Football fans across the region will be eager to see whether the defending champions can once again rise above the competition or if a new champion will emerge.
