Western Region KSSSA pools have been released, setting stage for a thrilling soccer and rugby showdown.

The draw has handed fans several blockbuster fixtures as county champions and traditional powerhouses prepare to battle for coveted slots at the national championships.
The race for Western Region glory has officially begun after the release of pools for the upcoming Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association (KSSSA) regional championships, setting up mouth-watering clashes in boys’ football, girls’ football and Rugby 7s.
The draw has handed fans several blockbuster fixtures as county champions and traditional powerhouses prepare to battle for coveted slots at the national championships.
In boys’ football, Kakamega County champions Butere Boys Senior School headline Pool A alongside Mbale Boys Senior School, Bukembe Boys Senior School and Nambale Boys Senior School. The group is expected to produce fierce competition, with all four sides aiming to make a strong start in their quest for regional honours.
Pool B features football giants Musingu Boys Senior School, popularly known as the Scorpions, who will face Emusire Boys Senior School, Kibabii Boys Senior School and Kolanya Boys Senior School. The pool has been tipped as one of the most competitive in the tournament, with several teams boasting strong records at county level.
The girls’ football category has also thrown up exciting encounters. Defending Kakamega County champions Butere Girls Senior School will take on Ibubi Girls Senior School, Nangina Girls Senior School and Brenda Girls Senior School in Pool A.

Pool B consists of Kingandole Girls Senior School, Madira Girls Senior School, Mwira Girls Senior School and Mungore Girls Senior School, with each side hoping to secure a place in the knockout rounds and keep alive their dreams of regional success.
Attention will also be on the Rugby 7s competition, where some of Western Kenya’s most successful rugby schools are set to renew rivalries.
Mukumu Boys Senior School, Bokoli Boys Senior School, Mbale Boys Senior School and Mundika Boys Senior School have been drawn in Pool A, while Kamusinde Boys Senior School, Vihiga Boys Senior School and Nambale Boys Senior School make up Pool B.
Pool C has emerged as the tournament’s “group of death,” featuring rugby heavyweights Butere Boys Senior School, Musingu Boys Senior School, Senende Boys Senior School and Friends School Kamusinga. The pool is expected to deliver some of the most thrilling matches of the championship.

In Pool D, Bungoma Boys Senior School, St Peter’s Mumias Boys Senior School, Butula Boys Senior School and Kolanya Boys Senior School will battle for qualification to the knockout stage.
With regional pride, trophies and national qualification tickets on the line, schools have intensified preparations ahead of the championship. Coaches are optimistic their teams can rise to the occasion, while fans are eagerly awaiting what promises to be a festival of talent, rivalry and sporting excellence.
The Western Region championships have consistently produced some of Kenya’s finest school teams and athletes, and this year’s competition is expected to be no different as schools chase regional supremacy and a place on the national stage.
