Ortum Boys, Nasokol Girls crowned West Pokot football champions

Ortum Boys Secondary School are the 2026 Secondary School football champions in West Pokot County after defeating Chepkono Secondary School 1-0.

The solitary goal was scored in the 85th minute, sealing the hopes of Chepkono Secondary School players, who had also put up a spirited fight throughout the match.

The thrilling final was played in Kaptabuk, Pokot South Sub-County.

The hosting of the games follows the rotational venue system adopted each year, with sports remaining one of the key goals of education in the Ministry of Education as it promotes social interaction among learners.

West Pokot residents travelled in large numbers to Kaptabuk using vehicles and motorcycles to witness the entertaining encounter.

Nasokol Girls triumph in shootout

In the girls’ category, Nasokol Secondary School emerged West Pokot County football champions after defeating Anet Secondary School in a dramatic penalty shootout.

Nasokol Girls converted seven penalties while Anet Girls scored six.

The victory saw Nasokol Girls crowned the 2026 West Pokot County girls’ football champions.

Following their victories, Ortum Boys and Nasokol Girls will proceed to the regional championships as West Pokot County representatives in football.

The two teams will be hoping to continue their impressive performances and challenge for honours at the next stage of the competition.
