The Trans Nzoia County Secondary School Games football final played at Transcend Stadium has taken a dramatic turn off the pitch after St Joseph’s Boys lodged an appeal questioning the eligibility of a St Anthony’s player following their narrow 1-0 defeat.

St Anthony’s Boys High School, former national champions, edged their long-time rivals St Joseph’s Boys 1-0 in a tightly contested final that attracted a huge crowd at Transcend Stadium in Cherangany Sub-County.

Shortly after the final whistle, St Joseph’s Boys reportedly filed a formal protest alleging that one of the St Anthony’s players featured in the match without proper clearance.

The player is alleged to have transferred from Kisumu Day, raising questions about transfer procedures and eligibility documentation under Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association (KSSSA) regulations.

Counter-Complaint Filed

St Anthony’s Boys have also lodged a counter-complaint against a St Joseph’s goalkeeper, claiming irregular participation.

However, preliminary reports indicate that the goalkeeper in question did not feature in the tournament matches, adding further uncertainty to the dispute.

The twin complaints have shifted attention from the pitch to competition officials, who are expected to review team lists, clearance documents and player registration records before issuing a ruling that could affect the final outcome.

The final, already regarded as one of the most competitive matches of the county season, now risks being overshadowed by administrative disputes over eligibility and compliance.

Awaiting Verdict

Fans who attended the match at Transcend Stadium witnessed a hard-fought encounter decided by a solitary goal, but the post-match developments have left uncertainty hanging over the official result.
