A 21-year-old trainee teacher at St. Bakhita Ebusiratsi Girls Secondary School has been arrested after he was allegedly found in a rental house with a 17-year-old student, prompting police to launch investigations into a suspected defilement case.
The trainee teacher, identified as Charles Musalia Andefo, was apprehended following a report by members of the public who allegedly saw him enter the rental house with the student.
According to police, officers responded to the scene and found the house locked from the inside. After knocking, the occupants opened the door, and the officers found the teacher and the student inside.
Preliminary investigations established that the girl is a student at the same school where the suspect is undertaking his teaching practice.

Police further established that the house had been rented by another teacher at the institution, identified as Testimony Elolo Garo. He was also arrested to assist detectives with investigations.
Sources familiar with the inquiry indicated that the trainee teacher could face charges related to defilement and abduction, depending on the outcome of investigations.
The second teacher is expected to record a statement as police seek to establish the circumstances under which the house was made available.
Investigations are ongoing.
