The family of a teacher trainee from Kenyenya Teachers’ Training College is appealing for public assistance following his disappearance more than two weeks ago while on teaching practice in Kilgoris Subcounty.
Samuel Mobegi Omenyi, who was undertaking his teaching attachment in Kilgoris, was reported missing in late May under circumstances that remain unclear. His disappearance has caused growing concern among family members, fellow students, college administrators and the school community where he had been assigned.
According to relatives, Samuel had been diligently completing his teaching practicum, a mandatory requirement ahead of his anticipated graduation from Kenyenya Teachers’ Training College next month. Those who interacted with him during the attachment describe him as a dedicated, disciplined and reserved trainee who was committed to his work in the classroom.
His sudden disappearance has shocked colleagues and mentors, who say it is highly uncharacteristic for him to leave without informing anyone. With only weeks remaining before the completion of his training, his absence has raised fears and prompted calls for intensified efforts to trace him.
Back home in Boigre Village, Etago Subcounty, Samuel’s father, Daniel Omenyi, has made an emotional appeal to the public and security agencies to help locate his son.

Speaking amid growing anxiety, Omenyi urged anyone with information about Samuel’s whereabouts to report to the nearest police station or contact Etago Police Station. He also appealed directly to his son to get in touch with the family if he is safe.
“We are living in mental anguish,” he said, describing the emotional toll the disappearance has taken on the family.
The case has drawn attention to the challenges and vulnerabilities faced by students undertaking attachments away from their homes and support systems. Residents and local leaders in both Kilgoris and Etago have been urged to cooperate with investigators and share any information that could assist in locating the missing trainee.
As Samuel’s classmates prepare for graduation next month, his absence remains a source of concern and sorrow for those who had expected to celebrate the milestone alongside him.
Anyone with information that may help trace Samuel Mobegi Omenyi is urged to contact the nearest police station or report to Etago Police Station immediately.
