Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) has rescheduled all examinations that were set for Wednesday, May 27, following the government’s declaration of the day as a public holiday.
In a memo dated May 25, the Registrar of Academic Affairs, Dr. Aggrey Wanyaga, informed students and staff that the affected examinations will now be administered on Monday, June 8.
The memo, copied to the Vice Chancellor, Deputy Vice Chancellors, principals, deans, chairpersons of departments, and the examinations timetable office, urged students to take note of the changes and prepare accordingly.
“The government has issued Gazette Notice No. 7653 declaring Wednesday, May 27, a public holiday,” the memo stated.

The holiday marks Eid-ul-Adha, also known as the Festival of Sacrifice, an important Islamic celebration observed by Muslims worldwide. The occasion is commemorated through prayers, family gatherings, and the ritual sacrifice of livestock.
“It has therefore been decided that all examinations scheduled for Wednesday, May 27, will be done on Monday, June 8,” the memo further read.
The university noted that examinations could not be rescheduled to June 1, as the date also falls on a national public holiday celebrated annually in Kenya.
