Medical appeal for retired Bomet headteacher Joseph Sang after leg amputation

Retired headteacher Joseph Sang of Kaptamuita village in Ndanai-Abosi Ward, Sotik Sub-county, Bomet County, who is recovering at home after undergoing a leg amputation at Tenwek Hospital, ahead of a fundraising event scheduled for June 6, 2026, to support his medical and rehabilitation needs.

A medical appeal has been launched for Joseph Sang of Kaptamuita village in Ndanai-Abosi Ward, Sotik Sub-county, Bomet County, following a difficult medical journey that has left him recovering at home after treatment at Tenwek Hospital.

Sang, a retired headteacher and highly respected educationist in the region, underwent treatment at the hospital where doctors were forced to amputate his right leg due to complications arising from his condition.

He is now recuperating at home as his family and community rally around him during this difficult period.

To support his recovery, a fundraising event has been scheduled for June 6, 2026, at his home in Kaptamuita village.

Organisers say the initiative aims to raise Sh1.2 million to cater for medical bills, rehabilitation, and other post-treatment needs.

Well-wishers have been requested to channel their contributions through M-Pesa number 0712032731 (Festus Mutai), who is coordinating the fundraising effort.

Community members have described Mr. Sang as a dedicated and hardworking teacher whose long service in Bomet County’s education sector positively impacted many learners and young teachers.
