Detectives in Nyamira County have secured a 10-day custodial order against a 30-year-old woman suspected of killing her husband.
Jannet Moraa was arraigned before the Chief Magistrate at the Nyamira Law Courts in connection with the death of her husband, Edwin Mosota.
The investigating team asked the court to grant them more time to hold the suspect, saying the period was necessary to facilitate further investigations into the circumstances surrounding Mosota’s death.
The court granted the application and ordered that Moraa be detained for 10 days as detectives continue gathering evidence and establishing what led to the death.
She was subsequently remanded at Ekerenyo Police Station, where she will remain in custody as investigations continue.
Detectives are expected to interview witnesses, record additional statements and examine other evidence that could help establish the circumstances preceding Mosota’s death.
The investigators will also use the period to piece together events surrounding the incident before determining the next legal step.
Moraa has not been convicted of any offence, and the allegations against her remain subject to due process and determination by the court.
She is scheduled to return to the Nyamira Law Courts on September 21, 2026, for a mention, when detectives are expected to update the court on the progress of their investigations.
