Former Chemaner Secondary School principal Samuel Kirui has passed away at AGC Tenwek Hospital in Bomet County, leaving behind a legacy deeply rooted in education development and community transformation.
According to family and close associates, the veteran educationist had been unwell but showed signs of improvement over the weekend.
His sudden passing on Monday, May 12 has shocked colleagues, former students and residents who knew him as a dedicated and humble leader in the education sector.
Kirui, popularly known as SK, is remembered for his long service in shaping academic standards and promoting discipline in schools where he served.
His leadership at Chemaner Secondary School remains a defining chapter in his career, with many crediting him for strengthening academic performance and institutional growth.
Beyond the school environment, Kirui actively engaged in community development initiatives.
He is notably remembered for facilitating the opening of the Kimuchul Primary–Bukunye Dip road through Chepgogen AGC, a project that improved accessibility and boosted local economic activity.

He also contributed to the construction of Chepgogen TBC and Sitotwet SDA churches, where he worshipped, reflecting his commitment to faith-based community development and support for local institutions.
In 2013, Kirui ventured into politics when he contested for the Chemaner Ward Member of County Assembly seat.
He, however, lost to Samuel Bor.
Despite the defeat, he remained active in community affairs and continued his service through education and development work.
Residents describe him as a visionary leader who combined education leadership with grassroots development, leaving a lasting impact on both learners and the wider Chemaner community.
He will be remembered for his dedication, humility, and unwavering commitment to service.
