The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) is currently conducting a nationwide sensitisation workshop on the Kenya Primary Education Equity in Learning (KPEEL) programme in Nakuru, bringing together education officers from all the 47 counties.

The ongoing workshop at ARC Egerton has convened Sub-County Directors, Curriculum Support Officers, Human Resource Officers, Accountants, and County ICT officers as the Commission moves to strengthen implementation of the KPEEL programme across the country.

The sensitisation programme follows an earlier directive issued by TSC in an internal memo dated April 29, 2026, which outlined plans for the training scheduled between May 4 and May 8, 2026.

According to the Commission, the exercise is aimed at enhancing understanding of the KPEEL programme, strengthening reporting systems, and improving coordination of education initiatives at the field level.

Participants are also being trained on the implementation of the School-Based Teacher Support System (SBTSS), a key programme designed to strengthen teacher support, monitoring, and curriculum delivery in schools.

During one of the sessions, TSC Sub-County Director for Kisauni in Mombasa County, Nicholas Mutungi, shared experiences on the implementation of the SBTSS programme with participants attending the workshop.

Kisauni Sub-County was singled out among the best-performing sub-counties nationally in the implementation of the School-Based Teacher Support System programme, with participants citing effective coordination and support structures within schools.

The inclusion of Curriculum Support Officers, ICT personnel, Human Resource Officers, and County Accountants in the workshop reflects TSC’s broader approach of integrating administrative, technical, and financial systems in implementing education reforms.
