The Ministry of Education, through the Kakamega County Secondary Schools Sports Association (KSSSA), has unveiled the 2026 sports calendar, outlining a structured schedule that will guide competitions from the grassroots to the international stage.

The calendar indicates that the season will begin with a County Referees Clinic on January 30–31 at Kakamega School, aimed at preparing match officials ahead of the busy fixtures.

Term One activities will see sub-county submissions close on February 24, before the county games are held from March 4–7 at Eregi Teachers Training College in Kakamega South. Disciplines lined up include rugby 15s, athletics, basketball (5×5), hockey, handball, cross-country and swimming.

Winners will advance to the Western Regional Games scheduled for March 18–22 in Vihiga and Bungoma counties, with top teams proceeding to the National Games set for April 5–12 in Kisumu.

The second phase of the season resumes in June, with sub-county deadlines falling on June 13. The Kakamega County Term Two Games will then take place from June 17–20 at Kakamega School, featuring soccer, volleyball, netball, rugby 7s for both boys and girls, badminton, table tennis, lawn tennis, basketball (3×3), chess and scrabble.

A deadline for county disputes has been set for June 23, ahead of the Western Regional Games slated for July 8–11 in Bungoma and Kakamega.

Successful teams will qualify for the Term Two National Games, scheduled for July 28 to August 2 in Thika Municipality, Central Region.

In preparation for regional representation, Team Kenya will hold a training camp in Kajiado from August 2–11, before participating in the FEASSSA Championship set for August 13–23 in Tanzania.
