Daystar University is set to convene education leaders, researchers and industry players in a stakeholders’ engagement forum aimed at shaping the rollout of new academic programmes in its School of Education.
The virtual forum, scheduled for Thursday, April 30, 2026, will bring together experts, practitioners, academics and prospective students to discuss emerging trends and needs in the education sector.
According to the university, the engagement seeks to gather input and align its upcoming programmes with current demands in education, technology and inclusive learning.
Among the programmes set for launch is a PhD in Education, which will offer specialisations in Education Management, Leadership and Policy, as well as Artificial Intelligence and Technology in Education.
The university will also introduce a Master of Education (M.Ed) programme with focus areas including Artificial Intelligence and 21st Century Pedagogy, alongside Inclusive and Special Needs Education.
At the undergraduate level, Daystar plans to expand its Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) offerings by introducing additional subject areas such as Kenya Sign Language, Fasihi ya Kiswahili, German, Chinese, Visual and Performing Arts, Agriculture, Home Science and Gikuyu.
The institution says the new programmes are designed to equip learners with skills relevant to modern classrooms and evolving global education trends.
Background
The move comes at a time when Kenya’s education sector is undergoing significant transformation, driven by the implementation of the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) and increasing integration of technology in teaching and learning.
Universities have been under pressure to align their programmes with these changes, particularly by incorporating digital skills, artificial intelligence and inclusive education frameworks to meet the needs of diverse learners.
Daystar University, a private institution known for its focus on leadership and ethical development, has in recent years expanded its academic portfolio to respond to both local and global education demands.
