Murang’a High to host national technical subjects contest in May

Murang’a High School has announced that it will host its annual National Technical Subjects Contest on Sunday, May 17, 2026, bringing together secondary schools from across the country in a major academic showcase.

According to an official invitation from the school’s Technical Department, the event aims to promote practical learning, subject mastery and academic excellence among students. Activities will kick off at 7:00 a.m. at the institution’s premises in Murang’a County.

Participating schools will be required to pay a registration fee of Ksh3,000 per subject for a team of ten students.

The competition will feature a range of technical and applied subjects, including Business Studies, Agriculture, Computer Studies, French, Music and Home Science.

The organisers say the contest is designed to foster collaboration and healthy competition among learners drawn from national, extra-county, county, and sub-county schools.

It also provides a platform for institutions to benchmark performance and share best practices in teaching and learning.

The event comes amid growing emphasis on practical education in Kenya, especially under the ongoing rollout of the Competency-Based Curriculum, which prioritizes skills development alongside academic achievement.

Performance records shared in the invitation indicate strong past results, signaling a highly competitive field expected to attract top-performing schools nationwide.

The winners will be recognized based on overall performance, with awards aimed at motivating both students and institutions to excel.
