Tongaren MP rolls out two-phase Bursary disbursement this month

Tongaren MP John Chikati rolls out a two-phase bursary disbursement plan to support students and ease financial pressure on families.

Tongaren Member of Parliament Hon. John Chikati has announced a structured bursary disbursement programme targeting students from Tongaren Constituency studying in secondary schools outside the constituency, aimed at strengthening educational support and easing the financial burden on parents.

The exercise will be conducted in two phases, beginning with Mbakalo and Milima Wards on Friday, April 17, 2026. The disbursement will start at 8:00 a.m. across designated schools serving as collection centres for different sub-locations, with officials expected to oversee an orderly distribution process.

In Mbakalo and Milima Wards, beneficiaries from Musembe Sub-location will report to Musembe Secondary School at 8:00 a.m., while those from Maliki Sub-location will report to Maliki Boys Secondary School at the same time.

Kibisi Sub-location students are expected at Kibisi Secondary School at 10:00 a.m., alongside Milima Sub-location beneficiaries who will report at Milima Secondary School.

The schedule further indicates that Mbakalo Sub-location students will receive their bursaries at Mbakalo Boys Secondary School at 12:00 noon, while Mukuyuni Sub-location beneficiaries will report at Mukuyuni Girls Secondary School at the same time.

Students from Karima Sub-location are set to attend Karima Secondary School at 2:00 p.m., while beneficiaries from Nabingenge Sub-location will be served at Eluuya Girls Secondary School at 2:00 p.m.

The second phase of the exercise will be held on Monday, April 20, 2026, covering Naitiri Kabuyefwe and Tongaren Wards. The disbursement will begin at 8:00 a.m. at St. Augustin Secondary School, Lukhuna, for Kiminini Sub-location, and at S.A. Sirakaru Secondary School, Sirakaru Sub-location.

At 10:00 a.m., beneficiaries from Mabusi Sub-location will report to Bishop Atundo Secondary School, while students from Kabuyefwe Sub-location will be served at Friends Naitiri Girls.

The exercise will then proceed at noon at Tongaren DEB Secondary School for the Tongaren Sub-location and at Lungai Secondary School for the Naitiri Sub-location.

In the afternoon session, Kakamwe Sub-location beneficiaries will report at Milele Friends Secondary School at 2:00 p.m., while Makhanga Sub-location students will be served at St. Veronica Sirende Secondary School at the same time.

The MP’s office has urged all applicants, together with parents and guardians, to attend the designated venues as scheduled, emphasising that the exercise is part of ongoing efforts to promote access to education and support learners across the constituency.
