Laikipia University reappoints Rev. Fr. Dr. Peterson Kabugi as acting dean of students

Laikipia University Vice Chancellor Prof. Joseph Rotich has re-appointed Rev. Fr. Dr. Peterson T. Kabugi as the acting dean of students for a further three-month period effective April 1, 2026, or until the substantive dean of students resumes office.

The reappointment ensures continuity in leadership within the dean of students’ office, a critical department charged with overseeing student welfare, discipline, and co-curricular activities.

The office also plays a central role in addressing student concerns and promoting a conducive academic environment across the university.

Rev. Fr. Dr. Kabugi has been serving in the acting capacity and is credited with maintaining stability and strengthening communication between students and the university administration.

His continued stewardship is expected to sustain ongoing programmes aimed at enhancing student support services, mental health awareness, and engagement in campus life.

In a brief statement, the university management reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding the welfare and academic success of all learners.

Through the Dean of Students’ Office, students have been assured of uninterrupted services and continued support during the transition period.

The vice chancellor expressed confidence in Rev. Fr. Dr. Kabugi’s leadership, noting that his experience and dedication remain vital in guiding the office’s operations.

The administration emphasized that the temporary extension is meant to ensure smooth coordination of student affairs as arrangements continue regarding the substantive office holder.

The students are encouraged to continue working closely with the Dean of Students’ Office and to seek guidance whenever necessary.

The university reiterated that maintaining a safe, inclusive, and academically focused environment remains a top priority.

The reappointment takes effect immediately and will run through the stipulated period unless otherwise communicated by the university management.
