Excitement is building ahead of the Kakamega Mega Gospel Festival Schools Football Tournament set to kick off on April 9, 2026, at Bukhungu Stadium.
The three-day tournament will bring together some of Western Kenya’s top secondary school football teams in a competition that blends sports and gospel values.
The participating schools include Kakamega High School, Shanderema Boys High School, Butere Boys High School, Mukumu Boys, and St Joseph Boys (JOBO).
Organisers say the tournament aims to nurture football talent while promoting discipline, unity and positive values among students.
Day One fixtures on April 9 will run from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

The opening match will see JOBO take on Mukumu Boys, followed by Butere Boys facing Kakamega High. Mukumu Boys will later clash with Shanderema Boys before Shanderema returns to the pitch against Butere Boys.
The day’s action will conclude with Kakamega High playing JOBO in what is expected to be a thrilling encounter.

The final is scheduled for April 11, 2026, at the same venue, where the top two teams will battle for the championship title.

The event is sponsored by Kakamega Governor Fernandes Barasa and Christ is the Answer Ministries (CITAM) Church, highlighting a strong partnership between county leadership and the faith community in empowering youth through sports.
