Machakos County Deputy Governor Francis Mwangangi has urged parents to take care of their children during the school holiday and Easter festivities to ensure they do not get into trouble.
Speaking outside Our Lady of Lourdes Cathedral in Machakos Town after the Good Friday mass to mark the crucification and death of Jesus Christ, Mwangangi said some children usually get trapped in bad company during the festivities, risking their health and their education.
“I ask parents to take care of their children, especially during these festivities when bad things can happen. Let the children be safe to go back to school in good health as they were when schools closed,” said Mr Mwangangi.
He also appealed to drivers to be careful on the road to avoid accidents.

Mwangangi said the Easter season was a period for reflection and for people to be mindful of each other.
Catholic Diocese of Machakos Bishop Norman King’oo, who led faithfuls in the Way of the Cross procession and later presided over the mass, called for peaceful campaigns as the country gears towards the 2027 elections.
He asked the youth to register as voters in large numbers to choose their leaders in the election.

“It is good that the youth are registering to vote. Let them register in large numbers so that they can elect leaders who will develop the country and unite the country,” he said as he wished all a happy Easter season.
