Christine Kasheusheu, the long‑serving treasurer of the KNUT West Pokot County branch, has secured victory in the Rift Valley Region NEC 007 seat following a spirited campaign that culminated at the Tom Mboya Labour College in Kisumu on April 3.
Kasheusheu, described by colleagues as soft‑spoken yet firm in decision‑making, ran an intensive campaign that convinced delegates of her suitability for the position. Her win was celebrated across the teaching fraternity, with congratulatory messages pouring in immediately after the announcement.
Teachers in Kisumu and back home in West Pokot County broke into jubilation, hailing her election as a significant milestone for the region. Supporters praised her social nature, teamwork, and dedication to strengthening the union’s voice at the national level.

Kasheusheu’s victory was part of a broader outcome that saw several other leaders clinch NEC positions. Alfred Rop won NEC 001, Richard Lenteeya secured NEC 004, Simon Tuwei took NEC 005, and Saramei Tuwei captured NEC 006. Together, the newly elected representatives are expected to play a key role in shaping the union’s agenda in the coming years.
