Speaking during the bus launch, the institution Chief Principal Shadrack Tonui said the arrival of the bus was a culmination of concerted efforts from the Board of Management and a big boost from the Ainamoi NG-CDF through its Patron the Member of Parliament (MP) Ambassador Benjamin Langat.

“The arrival of the bus is timely. It is going to make the field assessment of trainees very smooth unlike in the recent past when we had to hire private means, so as to accomplish the same.”Tonui said

He added that the bus is one of the most important training equipment and training tool especially when it touches on the dual training item, where trainees have to be transported to and from various industries and processing plants.

“The arrival of the bus to this institution is long overdue, as it is one of the most important components which makes the implementation of dual training to be successful. It will make the collaboration between the institute and the GIZ organization to be implemented easily, “he added.

The Chief Principal also thanked the Ainamoi NG-CDF for their timely release of Ksh2.5 million as bursary meant to assist over 500 students from humble background.

“Our area MP has been a great pillar on the establishment of this institution; from the initial allocation of land, to setting aside the Ksh 50 million which comprised of Ksh 40 million from the national government and Ksh 10 million from the NG-CDF.”

He also thanked parents of the institution for entrusting their students to be taught at the school and promised to improve the standards of education saying, this was in line with the Kericho Township TVC Strategic Plan.

On his part, the MP Langat thanked the local community for providing land for the establishment of the TVET college which has already introduced positive changes to the area.

The legislator promised to immediately initiate land expansion efforts which will enable the college to put up laboratories, workshops and classrooms, among others. “We need at least 10 more acres so as to accommodate the facilities still needed to be constructed.”

Tonui further revealed that the government will set up 580 Affordable Housing Units, as student hostels to benefit trainees, noting that engineers will start mapping out a bridge to connect the college and the other affordable housing projects in the Talai area.

The MP motivated the trainees to strive to be self-employed after their training instead of seeking for employment saying, “It is very simple for you to become millionaires, just strive to be employers and not employees. Start small by setting up your businesses.”
