The office of Kisii County Woman Representative Doris Aburi has been lauded for the good of rescuing the girl child from many social evils like early marriage at the expense of their education.

Speaking to Education News in Kisii town, Jane Matiabe, the chairman of Kisii town Open Air market Traders, said there were many female children suffering quietly under gender violence as society watched.

Her response came after learning the good work that was undertaken by Aburi’s office in collaboration with a Chief to assist a girl to join secondary school after running away from forced marriage by her parents.

According to villagers, the girl passed well in the 2025 Grade 9 examination and was supposed to join Grade 10, but her parents could not afford school fees and were forced to marry an elderly, rich man.

The area chief learned about the conspiracy and started following up on the matter, and returned the tormented girl to her parents under strict instructions to take care of her.

The office of the Woman MP learnt about the girl’s plight and went to her rescue, making all the necessary arrangements and taking her to Nduru.

Doris Aburi promised to pay school fees and provide other learning essentials until she completes her secondary School education.

When Education News visited Nduru Girls’ School for more details about the girl’s progress, the principal expressed satisfaction with her well-being there.
