The Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) Secretary General Collins Oyuu has once again secured milestone in his bid to retain his seat after the Central Organization of Trade Unions (COTU-K) Secretary General Francis Atwoli endorsed him ahead of the looming polls.

The formidable COTU Secretary-General, Francis Atwoli, declared Oyuu “tosha”, sufficient, fit, and unquestionably deserving, throwing the full weight of his influence behind Oyuu, signaling to the broader labour establishment where power is consolidating.

The endorsements, far from symbolic, signals a carefully engineered ground game that places his rivals on the defensive

Oyuu while speaking in Kisumu, framed the momentum as both earned and inevitable.

“This support affirms the confidence teachers have in our leadership,” he observed, in measured tones that nonetheless betrayed strategic certainty.

He cast his campaign as one anchored in stability and continuity, a subtle contrast to the turbulence that has historically dogged KNUT elections.

This comes as a boost after several regional delegates from the spine of KNUT’s Electoral College similarly endorsed his candidature.

With eight regions in his basket, Oyuu stand to command the conversation. It is, in effect, to redraw the battlefield before the first ballot is cast.

Oyuu will be battling out with his processor Wilson Sossion who has equally thrown a few punches here and there even though coming into the ring as an underdog.

But keen observers feel that Sossion should not be underrated having been at the helm of the union before he quit. However, quitting, it is now believed, has now returned to haunt him.
