The Catholic Diocese of Bungoma, Bishop Mark Kadima Wamukoya, has challenged students to embrace discipline, resilience and gratitude as critical pillars for academic success.
Speaking during a Thanksgiving Mass at St. Patrick Naitiri Boys High School, the bishop emphasized that strong values must go hand in hand with academic effort if learners are to excel in national examinations.
In his homily, Bishop Wamukoya urged students to cultivate a culture of gratitude, noting that recognizing the role of teachers, parents and sponsors contributes to a positive and focused learning environment. He said appreciation fosters humility, which in turn shapes responsible and disciplined learners.
Drawing from biblical teachings, the bishop referenced the story of the ten lepers healed by Jesus, pointing out that only one returned to give thanks. He challenged learners to adopt a similar attitude, saying gratitude is a mark of maturity and a foundation for success.
