Machakos Governor Wavinya Ndeti has called on the National Government, through the Ministry of Education, to increase school capitation and ensure timely disbursement of the funds to enable learning institutions operate smoothly.
Speaking during the Machakos Girls Senior School Academic Day, the Governor said delays in capitation continue to strain school management and parents, affecting the smooth running of schools.
At the same time, Wavinya reiterated the County Government’s commitment to supporting education, noting that the county has increased its bursary allocation from Ksh 120 million to Ksh 160 million to enable more learners from vulnerable families to remain in school.

She also urged teachers and parents to work together in guiding students to make responsible choices and address the challenge of teenage pregnancies so that learners can remain focused on their education.
Machakos County Director of Education, Madam Margaret Mwirigi, lauded Governor Wavinya for complementing the National Government’s efforts by supporting vulnerable and needy students through bursaries and sponsorship programmes across Machakos County.
