Kiharu Constituency Member of Parliament (MP) Ndindi Nyoro has commissioned a new senior secondary school, which is expected to ease congestion and enhance access to education for many learners in the Kambirwa area.

The St. Peter’s Kambirwa Senior School, which will host students from Grade 10 to 12, was fully funded through the National Government Constituencies Development Fund (NG-CDF).

Speaking after opening of the school, MP Ndindi Nyoro said the project reflects the constituency’s continued commitment to strengthening education infrastructure.

He explained that the school was built on land that had been set aside from a nearby primary school, a decision aimed at ensuring that learners transitioning to senior secondary education have a convenient place to continue their studies.

According to the MP, the new institution will ease the burden on many day-scholars who previously had to walk long distances to attend neighbouring secondary schools. He noted that the facility will particularly benefit learners enrolled in day secondary schools and will also help decongest existing schools within the locality.

“We want our children to learn in a conducive environment without having to travel far every day. This school will bring education closer to the community,” Nyoro added.

The newly opened school has also been equipped with a fully furnished science laboratory to support the teaching of science subjects, a move the MP said is necessary for improving the quality of education in day schools.

Nyoro underscored the need for continued investment in education infrastructure noting that the number of students in day schools across Kiharu has increased significantly following the implementation of the Masomo Bora programme.

Under the programme, school fees in day secondary schools within the constituency were subsidised to only Ksh500 per term, making education more affordable for many families and leading to higher enrollment.

“With the increased enrollment brought by the Masomo Bora programme, it is important that we continue expanding school infrastructure so that learners can study comfortably,” he stated.

Nyoro assured residents that the NG-CDF will continue to channel resources toward improving education facilities and providing learning materials to ensure students have the tools they need to succeed.

The MP also launched a new science laboratory constructed by NG-CDF for neighbouring Kambirwa Junior secondary school.
